During a lifetime,
it can feel as though we have lived several lives. Some periods are peaceful and relatively easy. Other times have unexpected
challenges not easily overcome. In our family, we too have had both periods peace and periods of challenge. In the uncertain
times, many of our friends and family members have supported us in different ways!
About two years
ago, I started a specialty foods company, Mad Hectic Foods, producing all-natural protein oatmeal mixes. Because of all that
I have been through in my life and because of the generosity of so many people who have helped our family, I wanted to give
a portion of the profits from the new business to help others during their challenging
times. The
reality is, unfortunately, that it can take several years for a new company to see a profit and it seemed as though we would
have to wait for a long time before we could donate to any organization. It seemed as though there was nothing we could do
right now... until I had an idea.  |

 The idea, RANDOM ACTS OF OATMEAL has two distinct programs, inspired by two distinct experiences. The
first idea came to me when I set up a display at a local grocery store to introduce customers to our protein oatmeal mixes.
One woman asked many questions about our new mixes. At the end of our conversation she said that she would love to buy a package,
but had just lost her job and had just been diagnosed with cancer. My heart sank. I have lived both of those experiences.
I told her how sorry I was to hear her news and wished her the best. As she walked around the corner, it occurred to me. My
business, still in its infancy with no profit and no personal paychecks, could not help her... but
I could! I ran around the corner, asked her for her mailing address and told her I would send her some oatmeal. That experience sparked one
aspect of RANDOM ACTS OF OATMEAL...Send a gift of protein oatmeal to someone you know in need, or to someone who just needs
encouragement in their life. (Boxes can be sent anonymously or with acknowledgement of you as the sender)  The second idea for RANDOM ACTS OF OATMEAL came from another
experience. One evening my thirteen-year-old daughter and I watched a television program which featured hunger in the United
States. It was an eye-opening program. The speaker encouraged listeners to do something, anything, to help others in need.
When the program was over, my daughter and I sat motionless on the couch. I kept saying over and over, "What can we do?
What can we do?" Then the words "RANDOM ACTS OF OATMEAL" popped into my head. This sparked the second idea. Through our website, you can
donate one or more packages of all-natural, high-protein Mad Hectic Oatmeal to a local food pantry. You purchase the oatmeal,
